Cristophe, hair stylist to the stars has created a line of hair care and styling products in collaboration with Denise Richards – who by the way, look fabulous over 40! The line is focused on adding volume to the hair, which is something that many women desire for their hair, and we all know Denise has fabulous hair.
The line consists of shampoo, conditioner, volumizing spray, volumizing creme and a finishing spray. I had recently tested the Cristophe Glossing Shampoo & Conditioner and really liked those, so I was familiar with what a quality product he puts out and was anxious to give the DR Volume Extend line a try as well when asked to try them for a review.
The first thing I noticed is the packaging. The shampoo and conditioner have a pump that is unique to hair products and I like how it doesn’t allow shower water to seep into the product. A big plus. It has a nice clean scent that isn’t over powering by any means. The shampoo works into a nice lather, but not overly sudsy. So many times a volumizing shampoo seems to feel like it strips my hair to make it more coarse feeling, but that is not the case with this shampoo – it leaves the hair feeling clean, but not stripped. I absolutely love the conditioner – again so many volumizing conditioners leave you wondering why you even used them as your hair never feels soft afterwards. But, this one leaves the hair feeling very soft and conditioned – but not unmanageable, if that makes sense.
The styling products are excellent as well. I use the Volumizing Spray all over at the roots and then I apply the Volumizing Creme about half way down my hair to the ends. I was leery about the Creme, as typically a cream works best when trying to smooth the hair out – not necessarily add volume to it, but this left my hair soft and with a lot of volume. The Finishing Spray is great too, as it doesn’t dry the hair out and yet it holds the hair – even in this really hot, humid weather.
Overall, I am very pleased with the line and like how my hair looks and feels when using it. In fact today a co-worker even commented on how full and curly my hair looked today, and she was shocked because she even said that I never used to have hair like that!
